Two Museums share the fascinating history of remote Beaver Island. The Print Shop Museum: tells of Native American heritage; the Island Mormon kingdom led by King James Strang who published a newspaper, had five wives, was assassinated; demise of the Mormon settlement; and settlement by Irish. The Marine Museum in an authentic 1906 net shed, features stories of the harbor teeming with fish, fishermen, Great Lakes ships; disasters, rescues, and a wooden gill net boat.
